The 5069-L340ERM is a CompactLogix 5380 controller that supports motion control. It is a programmable automation controller (PAC) with primarily 4Mb of user memory and 2 GB of non-volatile memory, provided by the 1784-SD2 secure digital (SD) card that comes with the controller. In addition to these built-in memory capacities, the 5069-L340ERM offers dual Ethernet I/P interfaces that support fast Ethernet and gigabit speeds, specifically 10/100 Mbps and 1000 Gbps.
Ethernet network topologies supported by this controller include linear, star, and device level ring (DLR) topologies. Simplex and straight-through connections are established using linear and star shapes. Through DLR, network redundancy and fault tolerance are realized, and the availability of communication network is improved. This controller can handle up to 90 Ethernet nodes and 32 socket connections. Only Ethernet ports are used for industrial communications, such as with supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, human machine interfaces (HMI), and other control systems.
