The CXP-544A-KOMS-A2 KOKUSAI peripheral interface circuit is used to connect the handheld programmer or other graphic programmer, text display, and can form the PLC control network through the peripheral interface. The lower inrush current of the CXP-544A-KOMS-A2 KOKUSAI causes less stress on the electrical components and junctions, further extending the system life. Soft starters reduce skidding, whistling, and stretching, and extend belt life to two to six times that of conventional cross-line starters. Reducing the impact on products on conveyor belts and material handling equipment reduces the costs associated with damage to moving products. In pump applications, the soft starter can soft stop the motor, thereby mitigating what is commonly referred to as the water hammer effect.
Contactor: Simply connect the motor directly to the AC line. A motor connected to an AC line accelerates to full speed very quickly and consumes a lot of current during acceleration.
The CVP-544A-KOMS-A2 KOKUSAI is used to slowly raise the motor to full speed, and/or slowly lower the motor to a stop. In order to reduce current consumption and mechanical strain on the system, a soft starter is used instead of a contactor. By providing smooth load acceleration and deceleration, soft starters reduce wear on belts, gears, chains, clutches, shafts and bearings. Many large pumps and fans require at least 30 seconds of ramp time to prevent mechanical damage to the system. In general, soft starters are more common in high-horsepower systems. They are often critical in applications where a sudden stop in load can lead to system or product damage.
Adjustable frequency driver: Has the ramp capability of a soft starter, allowing for speed variations and providing more flexibility and a variety of additional features.
When used in applications that cannot withstand downtime, enclosed variable frequency drivers typically include a bypass. The bypass configuration consists of three contactors: one that disconnects the drive from AC power, another that disconnects the motor from the drive, and a final contactor that connects the motor directly to the AC line. See Figure 1 for a typical three-contactor bypass configuration.
